It's been a few days and at last I have time to start the tour of our little cabin. (Key word here is "little"!!!) Since there are so many things I want to explain to you, I have decided I'm just going to do little pieces of the cabin at each writing. Are you ready? Ok, let's open the door!
As you walk in the front door, if you look to your right (West) you will see our little eating area. Since the room is small we decided to use a small table and two chairs. This little table is a wonderful antique. I'm not sure you can tell by the picture but there is a small drawer in the front with glass knobs. (Ok, one knob is missing but there should be two!) If you pull this drawer open, you will find it's really a writing desk, complete with an ink well and place for your pencil. Really a neat buy for $40!
The two chairs were picked up at our local Sale Barn. They have a little Kansas history behind them as they were made right here in Kansas and have spent all of their lives up until the time we bought them in a local church. (I think we bought 20 of them that day!) Since the cabin is decorated in the Shabby Chic style, I painted them an old timey green. Keith and I both love the way they look.
The window you see behind the table is the one you see when you look at the front of our cabin. I didn't have a curtain for it so took an old lace table cloth I had paid twenty-five cents for and just draped it over two nails. I really liked the way it looked so decided to leave it.
Right now I just have a candle set in the middle but later on I'll change that to something antique. I have a wonderful antique biscuit jar I would love to put there but the little ones spending a lot of time out there, I'm afraid it would get broken.
Well, I guess that pretty well tells you about this area. Later on, I'll tell you about an another part of this room. Any questions? Have a great day! Hugs, Sher
